Dr. Katy Rich, a true Thunder Bay native, has been a valued member of the Thunder Bay Eye Care team, bringing with her a deep understanding of the community and a comprehensive background in optometry. Her academic journey began at Lakehead University, where she earned two undergraduate degrees in Applied Biomolecular Sciences with Physics and Mathematics. She furthered her studies at Lakehead, completing a Master of Science in Physics, focusing on molecular imaging and cell death under the guidance of Dr. Patrick Rapley at TBRHSC.

Dr. Rich’s pursuit of optometry led her to the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry and Vision Science, where she graduated in 2014. Her extensive training included a fourth-year externship at OMNI Eye Services in Atlanta, Georgia. There, she gained invaluable experience working alongside specialized ophthalmologists, deepening her expertise in areas such as corneal diseases, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes, and age-related macular degeneration.

With her well-rounded optometric skills and a strong passion for eye health and patient education, Dr. Rich has become an integral part of Thunder Bay Eye Care. Her commitment to providing exceptional care and educating patients about their eye health showcases her dedication to the field of optometry and the well-being of her patients.
